EventsJune 2, 2011Free Lecture - Dr. Barbara Ivancic KutinThe Slovenian Museum and Archives and the Slovenian Genealogy Society International invite you to attend a free lecture by Dr. Barbara Ivancic Kutin of the Institute of Slovene Ethnology, Scientific Research Centre, Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr. Kutin is studying and documenting Slovenian oral traditions and will share some of her stories. The lecture will take place on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Slovenian Museum and Archives located at 6407 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Kutin’s research involves the collection and recording of different types of stories/tales told by Slovenians from generation to generation. All must be relative to the Slovenian homeland and can be in the form of fairy tales, animal fables, finger plays, humorous adult songs, lullabies, proverbs, mythical beings, one or two sentence sayings, etc., written or narrated in English or Slovenian. She would like Slovenians in the greater Cleveland area to volunteer to record their stories and how they have passed them on to their children. She will schedule times and dates after the lecture for those who wish to participate or bring your written story with you to the lecture. If you are not able to attend the lecture but would like to contribute your story, please contact Rose Marie Jisa of the SGSI at 440- 655-3954. All recordings will take place at the Slovenian Museum and Archives, 6407 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio between June 3-8, 2011.
