Tone KuntnerTone Kuntner was born on May 13, 1943 to a large farming family in Tratah v Slovenskih goricah.  He attended elementary school at Marija Snežna in Zgornja Velka, and graduated from the classical high school in Maribor. He went on to study performing arts in Ljubljana, graduating in 1968. From that time, until his retirement in 2005, he worked as a dramatic actor in the Ljubljana City Theatre, and performed in countless productions in Slovenian radio, film and television. He was also professor of creative writing at Slovenia's Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. Mr. Kuntner is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Prešeren Award and the Borštnik Award. He is the author of some 20 books of poetry.
