In March, the Government of Slovenia, Office for Slovenes Abroad provided SMA’s first significant donation.  This has prompted major individual contributions from members of the SMA Board of Directors, and the Richman Foundation has answered our request for financial assistance with a sizeable grant.  We hope that as you learn about the important work that SMA is doing, and the dedication of its volunteer members, you will respond generously to our appeal for donations.   You can play a key role with us to preserve and enrich the intricate fabric of life that so defines our community – by becoming a founding member of the new Slovenian Museum and Archives.

As the next step in our development campaign, we will be holding a special reception in May at which guests will have an opportunity to discover the new SMA and how to become a founding member.  The reception is by invitation only and we encourage you to contact us if you are interested in being a part of this premier event.

Work is being done on creating an office and repository which will offer a secure and controlled environment (temperature and humidity) in which to accept archival materials very soon.  In March, our telephone and internet systems were installed and thanks to Don Craven, Manager of 55 Public Square, LLC, our office and depot are furnished.  The remaining architectural plan will be implemented in phases, concurrent with the development of SMA.

With the launch of the Slovenian Studies Center based at Cleveland State University in May, SMA will work in concert to render invaluable services to historians, researchers, ethnographers, students and genealogists. SMA will be a unique resource centers for academic and genealogical endeavors.

SMA’s success depends upon dedicated volunteers.  Whether it’s helping to organize our collection, or assisting with our development efforts, SMA needs your participation.  If you have the time and inclination to lend a hand, please contact SMA at the above captioned number.  Please indicate your primary areas of interest.  There are opportunities for everyone’s time and talent.

Join in SMA’s mission to preserve and share Slovenian ethnic identity and its various migration experiences in a sophisticated, multi-functional and interactive dwelling.  SMA will provide an educational, cultural and literary resource for families and will include a library, museum, cinematheque and archives.

SMA needs you.  Supports SMA’s valuable work by contacting us, checking your local Slovenian news source for news about our developments and upcoming events and providing your tax deductible donation to SMA in care of Friends of Slovenian National Home while SMA awaits its 501(c)(3) status.
